Classy Trick or Treat
Our current project is self-portraits, so we did some in class yesterday. It was really cool. We used a viewfinder camera-the one where you have to go under a black cape to see the shot. We did individual self-portraits by setting up the shot, then posing in front of the camera and pushing a button to expose the film. Then we did a group shot. We each had individual props and it was a fun way to celebrate Halloween early!

I Heart Faces: Pretty in Pink
Stupid Human Trick: Wrong Way...
Mrs. 4444 has challenged me to a Stupid Human Trick. You see, she won't accept the award that I've given her unless I do something silly. So, here I am, all painted up for a Summer Swim Meet. Mrs. "4" did this to me in August, too.
As a coach, part of my job is to boost team spirit. So, another coach and I donned our bikinis and painted ourselves from head to toe in the team colors. Then we camped out by the side of the road and acted all crazy when team members and their families drove by on the way to the meet.
Does making a complete fool of yourself count as a Stupid Human Trick? I sure hope so!

Six-Word Saturday: Bling-Bling Rings!
I LOVE Bling...I really do!
Well, I've been Blinged again! Thanks for this Lovely award, coming from Marlie & Me. She's got a new baby at home, and doesn't have a lot of time, so I feel special to be recognized!
Here are the rules:
- To accept the award, post it on your blog, along with the name of the person who presented it to you. Don't forget to link to the presenter!
- Pass the Lovely Blog Award along to 15 blogs that you've newly discovered.
- Remember to contact your Chosen 15, so they know that they're the lucky winners!
So, here goes! I'm new at this Bling Thing, and every blog is new to me, so hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
Enjoy your Bloggy Bling, folks! This is my first time at Six-Word Saturday. Try to tune in, OK?

You Deserve a Break Today
This is the last in my Retro Mickey D's Series for my photo class...the snap my professor deemed "beautiful." It will kick off my contribution to a photo exhibit opening at the college this weekend.
And, BTW? I got an "A" on the project. Working with b&w film in a plastic toy Holga camera reaps artistic benefits, I guess. *Woo-Hoo*!
SkyWatch Friday features Superior Snaps from around the world. Give Me Your Best Shot is sponsored by Better in Bulk. You should tune in!

A Tribute to Baba
I'm a photographer, not a writer, but Mama Kat's writing assignments today really inspired me. I think I might be breaking the rules, but I'd like to post photos of my grandma. We called her Baba. She's my Mom's Mom, and I loved her very much. I didn't shoot these snaps, but they're special to me.
Waking up at home in San Francisco. Both Rudy the Cat and I are in black.
Baba (left) and Grandpa got married in Trinidad. Her twin sister, Joanna and Uncle George were in the wedding, too.
When I was in middle school, Baba lived in DC. We would go over to her house most weekend mornings for conversation, crossword puzzles and, of course, OJ.
My Mom wrote a poem about Baba this morning at her place. My Baba was the best!

I Heart Faces: Eat My Bubbles!
Here are the seniors on our team, cheering on the last relay of the summer season. It's hard to tell the outcome from their expressions, but I really love the range of emotions. Can YOU tell who won?

Aretha Franklin Pairs Up with Big Bird
Yeah, that's Aretha in the center, wearing a big, yellow tent dress thingy, which just happened to have mink (I think) cuffs. How do I know?
Here's the up-close, digital version of the shot. Kinda gives new meaning to JumboTron, doesn't it? Oh, and BTW, Drowsey Monkey does Mellow Yellow Monday! And, of course, Katney does Odd Shots Monday!

Weekly Winners: Ronald McDonald Goes Retro
My assignment was to shoot a roll of b&w film with a plastic Holga camera. The Holga is a cheap toy camera made in China. That's right, folks. No digital, no auto-focus, no SLR, no high-speed anything. Lots of light leaking through the seems in this baby!
After the "photo shoot," I went back to the darkroom and processed my film. Had no idea what would come of it, but I'm pretty fond of my effort. My photo professor even called my work "beautiful"!
Weekly Winners are brought to you each week by Lotus, at Sarcastic Mom.
Old-School Ronald McDonald rocks!

Odd Shots: Can You Hear Me Now?
She always does this on a bus, in a car, on a plane, on a train. Some day I'll run a whole Sleep Series, OK? Today's Odd Shot comes with sound effects...
