I Heart Faces: Holiday Traditions

Our Wisconsin cousins are more like brothers. My Aunt Julie had four boys; my Mom had two girls, so everything worked out. Here's a holiday from a few years back, which was most notable for the fairly odd family photos it produced. I guess you could say that silly snaps are our holiday tradition...

Fly Like an Eagle

Fly Like an Eagle

We were out wakeboarding in Wisconsin before the weather turned cold, and we saw this critter hanging out in a dead tree. Awesome!

EDITOR'S NOTE: I'm the Featured Friend of the Month over at Camera Critters...an early Christmas gift, huh?

Row, Row, Row Your Boat...

Row, Row, Row Your Boat...

We're expecting a blizzard tomorrow, so wanted to share a reflection from a sunnier afternoon. It's fun to run down to the Tidal Basin-located between Mr. Jefferson & Mr. Washington-in DC on a random afternoon, to putz around in a paddle boat.

Warm & Fuzzy

Warm & Fuzzy

When Old Man Winter finally settles down for a nap, the kitties at our house like to set up shop by the heating vents. Here's Patchy, snuggled up next to the vent in the dining room. Looks like her right eye is reflecting the "Caribbean Blue" theme of the room, doesn't it?

Night of the Iguana

Night of the Iguana

Another oldie, but goodie. We visited the Mayan ruins at Tulum, Mexico, two Christmases ago. Here's a snap of one of our fellow touristas.

I had shoulder surgery yesterday, so I'm recycling these shots. I included them in my senior year AP Photo portfolio. These droids have always been my favorites. They make their home these days at The Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History in DC.

I'm "Behind" the Packers, All the Way!

I Heart Tooshies

I was at the Green Bay-Dallas game, and captured some good tooshies, 'cause I was behind the Packers' bench. Get it?

Please...Vote Early and Often, OK?

Lesson Plans a la Mickey D's

The Scholastic Scribe: Best Individual Blog

Those of you who know about these things, know that the 2009 Edublog Awards-also called The Eddies-are a pretty big deal in the education blogosphere. In fact, my Mom's blog, The Scholastic Scribe, came within 9 votes of winning an Eddie last year.

Well, I'm nominating Mrs. Scribe this time around. She's fresh, she's current, she's funny, she's a great teacher, and she's my Mom. I can't think of a better reason. BTW, nominations close December 8 and voting ends December 16.

My nominations for The Eddies are:

Best individual blog: The Scholastic Scribe

Most influential blog post: The Hardest Part of a Teacher's Job

As my Mom, Mrs. Scribe, likes to say, "Vote Early. And Often." Pretty please?

Reflecting on Vince Lombardi

Lombardi Reflection

Went up to Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, to do a photo shoot a couple of weeks ago. This humongous statute of Vince Lombardi, the Packers' longtime, old-school coach, is a fan favorite. Couldn't resist snapping a shot of this pint-sized Packer-Backer. Oh, and the Pack won yesterday, smashing the Detroit Lions, 32-12. Go, Pack, Go!

Help is Just a Click Away...

Peninsula Debris

I shot this snap on a visit to see Miss Jo in San Francisco, but homelessness is a problem throughout this great country of ours.

Help us help those who can't help themselves...Miriam's Kitchen, and non-profits like it, provide vital services. Please click on the logo below to see what you can do to show your thanks during this holiday season...
